Time-management
Life in university brings challenges of learning how to manage time more efficiently and this can be a common source of stress in students. Impending deadlines, exams, assignments, extra-curricular activities and juggling your social and personal life can be intense. When time is not managed properly, it can lead feelings of anxiety and affect your performance.
Here are a few ways to manage your time more effectively:
- Create a daily and weekly to-do list
- Reduce procrastination
- Give yourself daily goals
- Remove distractions when studying or working
- Engage in more focused study – i.e. study in shorter bursts with more focus
- If you're feeling demotivated, set a timer for the task. E.g. set a timer for 5-minutes to do focused study and tell yourself you just have to focus for 5 minutes - then extend that time slowly
- Prioritize your tasks
- Don't take on more than you can handle – say no to unimportant things that can disrupt your time management
- Set aside time for study when you're most productive – you may be most productive in the mornings and that would be the best time to study
- Get enough sleep – many people require at least 8 hours
